Let me start off by saying I have become an Azio FAN. This is now my second keyboard from them in a little over a month (my husband bought me the retro classic in Artisan for Christmas), and I have been so impressed with everything—the shipping experience, unboxing the product, setting it up, etc. they have all been wonderful. I can tell that the company truly cares for every detail of their users' experiences, and being a product designer myself I find that so valuable.
In terms of IZO versus retro classic...the retro classic is fun to type on, and the tactile feel is an instant throwback to the typewriters I used to write on for fun as a kid. The aesthetics are striking and the media options are well thought-out. There is much more push-back against the keys when you press with the retro classic—a perk in some instances but when I am trying to type quickly I much prefer the IZO. With the retro classic, I can type around 100 WPM, and with the IZO it jumps to 120! So there is definitely a difference in speed.
The shape of the keys is a little different, but I enjoy it! They're easy to transition between and the feedback ("clack") when pressing the keys is equal to that of the retro classic, maybe a teensy bit softer. The gold accents do show fingerprints easily, but, included are white options to swap out if the fingerprints bother you.
I am a huge fan. By far my favorite keyboard to type with!
Can we also give a huge shoutout to Azio for making it so EASY to work with their keyboards on macs?! That alone makes me a loyal customer.
Not only does it function like a dream. The design is so incredibly beautiful. A bit on the pricey side because you're expected to buy each pieces in the matching set separately. I also got hit with additional fees because of custom/duties. Would prefer to have a bundle option for the numbered keypad and mouse because realistically you'd want all the matching items. But overall it's a great product. Very satisfying to type on and it feels substantial. Like a quality build.
I love it so much. Got all 3 pieces, shipped quickly, arrived early, setup is a BREEZE.
