Recently, on our social media platform, we have asked our followers to share with us your favorite books to get to know each other while we thrive through this difficult time. We were thrilled to receive so many wonderful responses and a wide range of appreciation in the world of literature and thought we would share these great book recommendations for you to add to your reading list.
Little Women by Louis May Alcott
Among many of our book recommendations, Louisa May Alcott’s Little Womenwas a popular choice for our readers. The novel is set around the years of the Civil War. The novel is focused on an everlasting bond formed within the March sisters, each with their own bright passions and personalities. For all our Little Women readers, we also encourage getting to know the March sisters by watching the most recent movie adaption of this novel. We highly recommend this book if you are looking for a heartwarming and touching story about remembering our childhood and accepting maturity.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
For our hopeless romantics we have received the classic recommendation of Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen. The novel is set in nineteenth century England following a middle class family that includes five sisters. Sparks fly between Elsabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy, but gossip and holding prejudice towards one another stands between them. The romantic novel portrays the social conventions and standards for relationships in the early 1800’s.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
In more of a modern setting, Azio received book recommendations more targeted for our young adult readers. One of them being The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. This novel is an engaging story following Hazel’s diagnosis with lung cancer and her acquaintance with Augustus Waters in a support group. Throughout the novel, Hazel and Augustus form a close relationship while exploring the meaning of existence, identity, and mortality. Readers of John Green will also enjoy Looking For Alaska in which John Green wrote from inspiration of his own life. In the novel, shy and predictable Miles Halter seeks excitement in his life, as he befriends Alaska Young and two other friends at his new boarding school located in Alabama.
The Overstory by Richard Powers
We also received a recommendation for The Overstory by Richard Powers. The novel is a story of nine people, each connected with their own experiences with the trees that had an outstanding impact on their life. These people believe that the possibility of these trees coming to an end by being cut down would be a great danger to the world. These nine people work together to help preserve what they believe is important to themselves and the world around them. The Overstory goes into depth with the dangers of deforestation, group mentality, and hope.
Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
And of course, there were many fans of the Harry Potter series. If you haven’t ever had the time or chance to give this series a try, now would be a great time to familiarize yourself with the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and to finally see what all the hype is about. Readers that are fascinated with fantasy and magic will certainly enjoy this genre and other similar novels.
